William Rattner
Born: September 26, 1936
Died: March 16, 2019 After a 37-year career as a corporate litigation attorney, William Rattner retired and began his second career as the Executive Director of The Lawyers for the Creative Arts for 14 years, where he invigorated the organization by inviting new board members, expanding their fundraising model, and initiating regular workshops for nonprofits and start-ups to give them the necessary knowledge to develop sound business practices, develop functioning boards and to secure 501c3 status. As a lover of the arts and an actor in the Evanston Upstagers Group, Rattner’s work for Lawyers for the Creative Arts was in keeping with his interest in helping the underdog, his son told the Chicago Tribune. “His second career was perhaps more rewarding (than his first.)” He is survived by his wife, Gale Rattner; son David Rattner; granddaughters Celia and Elsie Rattner. |
