Malcolm Ewen
June, 1954 - May 20, 2019
Malcolm Ewen was an ensemble member at Steppenwolf Theatre Company where he was a long time & much beloved stage manager. He spent his summers at his other artistic home, the Weston Playhouse Theatre in Vermont, as an actor and a director. Ewan added carpentry & electrical work to his bag of tricks- making him an exceptionally multifaceted artist. He also held leadership positions within Actors’ Equity (the union of professional actors and stage managers) as a National Councilor of Equity’s Central Region. He also served on the board for Season of Concern. Since 1987, 32 years of his career were spent at Steppenwolf where he stage managed over 40 productions, some headed off to Broadway (and won 2 Tony Awards) under his caring hand. Although he stayed close to his Northshore roots (Malcolm was a graduate of New Trier High School) his work took him all around the globe and touched countless lives with his enormous talent and heart. |
