Larry Neumann Jr. (1959 - 2022)
Larry Neumann Jr., a native Chicagoan and talented Chicago based theater actor, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Larry was 62 years old at the time of his passing. Larry performed in over 70 theatrical productions, mostly in Chicago, at some thirty-two different theatres.
Larry was a force in Chicago theatre. In his tenure, he performed in more than 70 theatrical productions at 32 different theatres. He is from Chicago and only left to attend college at Illinois Wesleyn in Bloomington, IL. While in college, he worked as intern in NYC at American Place Theatre and was also able to study with Uta Hagen. After graduation, he returned to Chicago and began his career. In the early 90s Larry became involved with New Crime Productions led by John Cusack. He performed in his first professional Shakespeare production as Iago, opposite David Barr as Othello for Chicago Shakespeare, and Larry began a decades-long relationship with Live Bait Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, and directors David Cromer and Gary Griffin. He was part of Remains Theatre Ensemble’s landmark THE CHICAGO CONSPIRACY TRIAL, which ran for six months. 1992 was the year Larry was cast in the Goodman Theatre’s production of THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH. His television credits include Jimmy Bagwell in PRISON BREAK; a detective in WALKER, TEXAS RANGER; Adolph Hitler in THE UNTOUCHABLES; and a psychotic sister-strangler on AMERICA’S MOST WANTED are among Larry’s television credits. He also appeared in movies like Stranger Than Fiction (2006), The Merry Gentleman (2009), Stir of Echoes (1999), Sirens (1993), and Slice (2018). Sandy Borglum, Larry’s wife of 18 years said, “Larry was the hardest working man I ever knew. He was lucky in that he always was able to live his life on his own terms.” |
