Joan Spatafora

Picture
Joan C. Spatafora (nee Cantello) of Oak Park IL - and an actor who was part of Chicago’s early theater history - has passed away after suffering a fall.

Joan was married to late Jack Spatafora for 50 years; Jack - also an actor as well as a playwright - and Joan had a lifelong friendship with a then little-known comic, also from the same Oak Park area, named Bob Newhart.

Joan was frequently featured in many shows at Chicago’s famous Body Politic during the 80’s, including “A Life” and “All My Sons”.  She also performed in Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s 1980 production of “Bonjour, La, Bonjour” staged at Jane Addams Hull House Center Theater, and “Yentl” at Wisdom Bridge Theatre in 1980.
