DuShon M. Brown
November 30, 1968 - March 23, 2018
DuShon M. Brown was born in 1968 in Chicago, IL to Tim and Liz Colburn. She graduated from Whitney Young High School and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, earning a Master’s Degree from Governors State University in counseling and had an extensive background in social work. Brown previously worked at Chicago’s South Shore International College Preparatory High School as the guidance counselor, and at Kenwood Academy High School as a crisis counselor, drama instructor and led the Drama Starz Program. A longtime Chicago stage actor, Brown performed at the Goodman, Victory Gardens, Lookingglass, Drury Lane, MPAACT and Pegasus Players. Her previous TV work includes the recurring role of infirmary nurse Katie Welch for 13 episodes on Prison Break (2005-07) as well as one-time guest spots on Empire and Shameless. DuShon is best known in her current role as Connie, Assistant to Chief Boden, on the long-running NBC hit Chicago Fire. Brown also starred in a made for TV movie titled Public Housing Unit about Chicago cops, the project is set to premiere later this year. “We are devastated by the loss of a very talented and kindhearted soul,” said Brown’s manager Robert Schroeder, of Grossman & Jack Talent in Chicago. “She brought laughter and joy to many, and she will be greatly missed.” That sentiment is echoed by many who were lucky enough to work beside DuShon. Whether it was cutting up backstage or sharing a scene out on location, her laughter and utmost professionalism will be profoundly missed. DuShon is survived by her daughter, Zoe, and siblings Zachary, Zaire, and Jamyra Colburn. |
