Covid 19 Support Fund
The mission of The Chicago Theater Bike Ride is to provide support to members of the arts community who are struggling after the death of a loved one, or a major catastrophe that has impacted them financially.
In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, The Bike Ride is giving $250 grants to of our community members to assist with basic essentials during this crisis. As you know, our members are among the most vulnerable as many of the jobs they do such as waiting tables and bartending were eliminated in the same moment as their upcoming contracts with theaters and TV shows.
Todd Logan, playwright and producer, donated $10,000. We have received other donations from caring folks who understand the precarious nature of working in the entertainment industry. You can see a list of those donors below.
Many folks will get a boost from the single payment from the government as well as the supplemental unemployment. There are also several newly created funds as well that are there to assist artists. Some have specific requirements or there may be a few weeks waiting period. The Chicago Theater Memorial Bike Ride has no red tape or forms to fill out. There is no union membership requirement or proof of employment. When we get a request we get the money in the mail ASAP.
If you know someone in distress please have them contact us immediately at [email protected].
If you are able to give to our Covid-19 Response, please go to the donate page, and give whatever you can. We are 100% volunteer so your donation will go directly to our members in need.
In the meantime, stay safe and LOVE HARD.
