JAMES EDWARD NORMAN (1970-2026)
|
Long-time Goodman Theatre House Carpenter, James Norman, passed away on February 20 at the age of 55. A proud member of Local 2 of The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, James shepherded over 100 Goodman productions between 2001-2025 and mentored numerous stagehands with his skill and steady hand.
Born and raised in Nickerson, Kansas, James was active in theater, basketball, football and speech – interests that revealed his expressive spirit and cooperative heart. After earning his master’s degree from Kansas State University, he embarked on a rich and varied professional journey that took him to Denver, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Oregon and Chicago, eventually finding his work home at the Goodman. Beyond his craft, James was an avid hiker, devoted baseball fan and dog lover. He loved crunching statistics for fantasy teams, cheering his Sox, disappearing into the wilderness and long strolls with his pal Lucky. Those who knew him cherished his sharp mind, warm humor and boundless intellect. James is survived by his spouse, Michelle; his brothers Gene (Carol) and Ray (Flor); his parents David and Irene; his nieces Jennifer and Alexa; and his nephews Jacob and Derek. |
